Pony-tales.

I could tell you a story about ponies, or I could [briefly] tell you about the wonderful day I had while wearing a dress with ponies all over it. We’ll go with the later.

Or I can just skip the details and let you know that today I met a awesome woman named Shawna, who is mom to three-year-old Lucy. Lucy has leukemia, knows the words to multiple Beatles songs by heart, and is going to “kill all the cancer bugs in her blood because cancer sucks.” Yes, she’s three, and adorable. I also got to hang out with my awesome Tri Deltas at ISU that raise a boatload of money for St. Jude and are always so excited about everything. I do have to admit, I did spoil them with goodies today, but they truly deserved it with all the hard work they do.

One of them came up to me after the meeting and said: “What did you major in to get your job?” My answer, was of course, “Political Science.” She laughed and I went on to explain how I volunteered and interned with St. Jude prior to getting this gig. As long as you have the dedication to an organization such as this, I believe you can help no matter what you “major” in.

Though some days are trying and the hours are rough - it all comes down to awesome days like today. My job is incredible, poli sci or not.
